I cried when I read your posting on the CWG board. Your questions about love and how we can find it and express it really struck a cord with me. God bless you and I hope your book does very well.

Subject: Your help
Kenton,
May God bless you and put you eternally in His favor.
God has asked me (personally) to send you this e-mail and ask you if you would
be willing to help us a little. (You’re probably thinking, "Right, just
imagine, God wanting or needing our help!" Truthfully, He does it this way
so that WE will get the benefit of having assisted Him in His work! - If you
read the book, you will see this...)
First, MAY I QUOTE YOU? (In the published version of the book or marketing
material for it.)
Your quote will appear this way:
===============================================================
"I cried when I read your questions about love and how we can find it and
express it really struck a cord with me. God bless you and I hope your book
does very well."
Kenton Shaw
===============================================================
(I love to have real comments from real people about my book!)
In the hopes that you will let me quote you, AND, in the further hopes that you
will give my book a "REVIEW" (just a paragraph or two, describing
what you think about the book) -- I am attaching the full electronic version of
the book to this e-mail (in PDF format.) This is the exact same version that
someone would pay $9.95 for on the website and download, and it is yours
free... out of my love for you and in appreciation of your kind and
"unsolicited" words. I am also attaching the "front" and
"rear" cover pages, and some "supplemental material."
Please read some of this book and then send me your "REVIEW" of it
(just a paragraph or two, honestly describing your thoughts and feelings about
the book.)
LET ME WARN YOU! I have found in the last 20 years that few people are able TO
READ THIS ENTIRE BOOK! For the majority, something prevents them
from reading more than a chapter or two. I know and understand this strange
phenomenon, but it is difficult to explain to others. I strongly URGE YOU,
FIRST - read the CHAPTER OF CONTENTS, pick out a subject listed there that is
either interesting to you, or that you really want to know about FIRST, and
read that chapter first. If you are able to read the entire chapter, go back to
the contents and pick your next interesting topic! (You may also want to check
out the "150 Questions that this book answers" paper, so I am
including that. Unfortunately, the page numbers in it do not line up with this
version of the book - yet... BUT, the Chapter numbers are right!)
Even if you can only read a chapter or two (like most people), that's perfectly
OK. This book is so powerful; it was not intended for everyone and some
person's subconscious will fight to defend their belief systems from reading
it. Also, since the book is a set of loosely connected discussions on different
topics, it does NOT have to be read in series, from Chapter 1 to Chapter 20
(like a novel or a story.)
Like you, about 5% (1 out of 20) people whom have read this amazing book have
had sincere emotional response to it. You are absolutely right... it
"strikes a chord" in some people and brings forth from them emotional
responses (sometimes, very strong!) I have many times had people complain that
they got no sleep last night because they couldn't put my book down and stop
reading it (that REALLY makes me feel wonderful!)
I sometimes cry myself when rereading the words God said to me. They are so
simple, so beautiful... and so powerful! And He was willing to stoop down to
such a common, sinful man like myself and give these beautiful flowers and
pearls of wisdom to... and He allows me to give them to others! (And the supply
never ends, but grows larger each day!)
Kenton, this book is meant as just an "introduction" to me, and what
God has taught to me and given to me FOR YOU! All of the things I have been
taught and shown are not for my benefit, but for others, LIKE YOU! I hold
seminars, discussion groups and workshops on Love, Life, Relationships, Fear,
etc. ALL FREE OF CHARGE to anyone interested.
I so wish that we could continue our communications (e-mail, CWG board, etc.)
as I have so much that I can give to someone like yourself that has an
appreciation of the wisdom contained in The Truth.
Please enjoy your copy of "The Truth" electronic version, and when
the paperback version is available (in a couple of months) I will be very happy
to personally autograph one and send it to you (free of charge for YOU!)
God has shown me that since He wants the information in this book NOW made
available to as many people as possible (whom will benefit from it), I am building
a database of "family and friends" to use as contacts to assist in
getting the book into the hands of the people it can help most.
Kenton, God has asked me to ask you if you would help us a little. If not, no
problem, I am just asking because I feel that you see the good of this book and
might be willing to assist me in getting it out to those it can help!
The purpose of this wonderful book is to SPREAD the wonderful information and
helpful wisdom in it to as many people that it can help as possible. If after
reading some of this book, you think you know others whom might benefit from
it, be interested in it, or be willing to write me a review of it, PLEASE give
me their names and e-mail addresses (and how you know them.) I will be VERY
HAPPY to send them a full copy for review (like I have done for you!) Also, if
you know any "celebrities" or "note-worthy" persons (like a
movie star, or a well-known sports star) I am looking for someone recognizable
that might be willing to give this book a review.
I have already had many of my family and friends give me the names and email
addresses of persons that they thought could benefit from, or would be
interested in this beautiful book that God wrote. If you do assist us (by
giving us some names and e-mail addresses) I will definitely tell them that YOU
recommended this book to them, like this:
===============================================================
Jim,
Kenton Shaw (a close friend of your son, I understand) recommended your name
and e-mail address to me. I am attaching a copy of an amazing book (that is
being published at this time.) This electronic version is yours, free of
charge.
Kenton tells me that you may be interested in the information in this book, or
believes that it may help you (as it has helped many others.) If you wouldn't
mind, please read at least a chapter or two of this and if you are willing,
send me (Peniel@peniel.us) a short honest review (a paragraph or two describing
what you think or feel about this book.) If you are interested, you can find
more information about it at http://www.mcwj.com.
*** ... (I would also ask Jim here if he knew of any people that might be
interested in a free copy to review, or someone that this book might interest or
help) ...***
===============================================================
Kenton, once again, thanking you in advance and may Dad fill your life with
peace, love and joy!

Hi Peniel G.G.G.:
Thank you for sending me an electronic copy of your work for review. Yes, you may quote me if you like. I would be honored. I am having a little trouble opening the main manuscript, but I have a friend who is very knowledgeable about computers, and I am sure he can assist me in opening it. I will follow your advice and read a few chapters, and send you a review. After that let me see if I can send you some referrals. Thanks again for your kindness and consideration.
P. S. My
given name is Kenton, but I really prefer to go by Ken. It's not as
formal.

Ken,
First of all, thank you for permission to use your quote (I will!) Your words
went right to the heart of the matter and I hope others will be inspired by
your honest feelings towards it.
Secondly, since the main file I sent you was an "Adobe Acrobat" (PDF)
file, you will need the Adobe Reader program to read it. You can download this
free reader program here: http://download.com.com/3000-2378-8338119.html?tag=list
I am attaching another copy here (in Word format.) You should be able to read
this one.
I am anxiously looking forward to any referrals you might be able to supply.
May God send you His light and grace

Thank you
for sending me a version of The Truth in Word format. I've printed off the
first nine chapters so I can start reading and studying them. I was scanning
some of the pages and really liked what I was reading. I want to really get in
and read the entire book and then get back with you.
Thanks
again,

Ken,
Just thought I'd check and see if you'd had time to read any of the book?
I probably already warned you about the fact that most people (85%) are NOT
ABLE to read more than a chapter or two, no matter what they do! I was
wondering if this applied to you also?
Here's what I told you in an earlier e-mail:

Hi Peniel:
I've read the first nine chapters and I do like it. Very interesting. and similar in many ways to the teachings in the Conversations With God books. I am going to print out the remaining chapters and complete my reading, and then prepare my review.
Your name Peniel fascinated me, so I looked up Peniel in my Bible dictionary, and found my answer in Genesis, where God speaks with Isaac, I believe. I am typing this from memory, so I hope I am getting this all straight.
Have a
wonderful Thanksgiving, and God bless you.

Subject: Peniel’s name
Ken,
You are one of the first to look up the name Peniel to see what it was.
You are right! When Jacob wrestled with the angel all night, and the angel
couldn't defeat him, the next morning the angel asked Jacob to let him go.
Jacob refused until the angel told him his name. The angel wouldn't tell Jacob
his own name, but changed Jacob's name to Israel and explained that to him.
Jacob named the place "Peniel" which in native common Hebrew means,
"I have seen God face to face, and lived to tell of the experience."
Peniel is also the name of the mountain (hill) in Israel where this event
happened.
I was given the name for the same reason. After I saw Jesus face-to-face in
1979, it had an amazing impact on me. It instantly changed
me, redefined who I was. Jesus gave me that new name at that time. It
actually took me a long time to find out what it meant, and when I did, it fit
perfectly into the experience I had had, so I knew it was indeed my personal
name, given me by God that defined who I AM.
As far as my book being "very similar" to the CWG books, I have heard
the exact same thing from many different people who have read both. Some have
said that the similarities were WAY TOO SIMILAR and it was obvious that I had
ripped Neale Walsch off and just redone his book as a Christian version. At
least they say that until they learn that I wrote this book in 1985, many years
before Neale claims to have had his conversations with God. Neale says he began
his conversations in 1992.
Also interestingly enough, one of the places that we sent my book off for
possible publication in the late 80s was some large marketing firms in
California (at the suggestion of some publishing houses at that time.) It is
now my understanding that Neale was the head of marketing at a large marketing
firm in California in the late 80s, but he refuses to talk about his past jobs
for some strange reason... interesting set of coincidences!
I am happy to hear that you have printed some more and are intending to read
more of it. I have had a few reviewers say that the book starts slow, but that
it keeps getting better as it goes on, all the way to the end. (The first 5
chapters are slow and repetitive, and written to a small child level, but then
it gets better as it progresses.)
To keep you posted on what is happening with the book: it is in the final
editing at the publishers. It will soon go to the typesetters. I have sent a
few "Galley" copies to national book reviewers (NY Times, Chicago
Tribune, etc.) and they have it slated for review soon. I am continuing to send
out "review" copies to big media places like large newspapers,
magazines, etcetera, to try and generate some pre-printing interest in the
book. The book now has its official ISBN number (like a book serial number.)
The publication date is also set for April 28th, 2003 - the day before my
birthday! When I get a real paperback version, I will send you an autographed
copy! It's weird, it took 23 years of my life before Jesus began talking to me
personally, and another 23 years before he would let me publish what HE
wrote...
As you read more of the book, if you have any questions or want to discuss any
thing in it, just ask! I am so happy that people (including yourself) are
finally going to be able to gain the guidance that this book has given so many
for 20 years, but only privately to those whom knew me personally!
May God give you the courage to do what you know you must soon do!

Peniel: Thank you for your response to my email. I wrote a review of your book this morning and I would like to share that with you first.
"The Truth" is an inspiring book than enables the reader to truly understand his relationship with God and his fellowman. This dialogue helps us to understand our divine potential, and what God desires for each of us to know and do with our lives. It s a great help for those who want to further their spiritual journey in life.

I've written book reports before (those wonderful days of high school and college) and then helped my own children with their reports, but I had never written just a review. I limited it to one paragraph to simply try and explain very briefly what the reader may glean from your book. Again, please feel free to use it however you wish.
You mentioned that some people thought the words in your book and the words in the Conversations With God books were too similar. Scholars have said the same thing about the teachings of Buddha and the teachings of Jesus, even though there was 500 years between them. My explanation is very simple. They both came from the same source. In fact, I know God can and does speak to all of us, if we will simply listen. Most of us don't, and when we do listen, we often don't believe it or realize it is from God. I just turned 56 on the 10th of November, and it's only been the last year or two that I am really beginning to feel God loves me, let alone that He would speak to me.
The other night I was cleaning up my emails and somehow deleted the copy of your book you had sent me. Could you please send me another copy, in word please, so I can print the remaining chapters and read them.
Thanks so
much,
Ken Shaw
