Hello to you - Michelle,
Your "opinion" is EXACTLY what I would like!
No hurry, at your leisure (the book is about 5 months from official printing
date in April, 2003.)
Thank you in advance...

Subject: OMG Review
Hi Peniel,
I've finished reading "Oh my GOD! Are You Talking to Me? (My Conversations
with Jesus)."
Thanks again for letting me read it. I've read few Christian books or
Christian self-help books.
Anyhow, here's my opinion of your book -- it's a bit longer than you requested.
Your process of communicating with Jesus sounds like automatic writing.
I've read books by Ruth Montgomery, which she claimed spirit guides dictated to
her. Your connection with Him reminds me of the experiences Jeanne
Gardener described in her autobiography "A Grain of Mustard."
It's been years since I read it, but I recall that she received messages
and visions from God, which changed her life -- they're so amazing they're hard
to discount. Jesus "speaks" in your book like how I imagine he
does.
This certainly seems like the right time in history to market your book, as
people are growing increasingly aware of spirituality and new age topics. More
and more books on these subjects are becoming bestsellers.
I'm familiar with many of the topics you cover, and have read about some of
them in other self-help books (for instance, the concept that people create
their problems through their reactions to other people or situations). I don't
know much about other competing Christian books, but I think yours might be
different, at least in the way you present the subject matter, as a
conversation with God, and that angle will likely gain your book some
publicity.
Your writing style is very clear, however, I found the first four chapters a
little simple and repetitive, as if they were written to a child's reading
level. Some of your questions appeared to me to be leading questions
meant to keep the conversation going. I liked the fifth chapter, and the
rest after that -- the further I read, the better it became. Chapter 17
was also helpful.
I also found a few typos. In case you or someone else hasn't already
noticed them, I've listed them below.
Page 122: "loses" is twice misspelled as "looses."
Page 202: In the last paragraph, in one of the sentences, "the" is
used instead of "they."
Page 234: There is a word missing, or a word in the wrong order, in the
sentence, "The major differences between you, and those like you who
endure very little pain and suffering, are in attitude and beliefs, but MAINLY
the in ways that they have learned to get their needs met."
Page 235: In the third paragraph, one of the sentences should have the word
"receiving" rather than "receive."
Page 240: The second sentence in the second paragraph has the word
"your" instead of "you."
I hope you will profit from this book, not only monetarily, but in fulfillment
from helping more people on their paths to perfection. Your sincere
approach and advice can guide many people to improve their lives and their
relationships with God.
Regards,
- Michelle Troutman

Subject: You’re amazing
Michelle,
You are amazing! All I expected was a short blurb and not only did you read and
review (in depth) the entire book; you even are assisting me with editing,
spelling and grammar! You have certainly gone the extra mile, and I admire you
for that!
I will use your valuable suggestions and make the changes you recommended in
the final version of the book. I appreciate you comparisons and comments, also.
I understand about the first few chapters being a little "slow" and
repetitive. I agree. Hopefully, people will be able to get beyond them to the
heart of the book.
I especially liked you comment about me profiting from the book, not only
monetarily (which I am sure will happen also,) but, in the fulfillment of
assisting others on the path to a closer relationship with God, THIS IS THE
MAIN REASON I WROTE the book, and you are the first person to see that that is
"at least" in part why it was written. You are very insightful!
All in all, I am extremely happy with your review, and appreciate you not
sugar-coating it!

P.S. I would be happy to send you an autographed "printed"
version of the galley proofs if you like. It might be of interest
someday if this book sells well! If you do want one, just reply with a mailing
address and I will send you one (they are going out to the National Reviewers
right now!)

Subject: Galley
Hi again Peniel,
Thank you for your kind words. Just trying to provide some constructive
criticism.
I will not be accepting your printed galleys, but I appreciate your very
generous offer. You've already given me a free book, which is valuable
enough, and I wouldn't want to impose on you.
While reading your book, I really got the impression that you wanted to help
people. I believe that some authors write books, not only to make money
but also to assist or influence their readers.

- Michelle Troutman

Subject: Final thanks
Michelle,
Again, my appreciation for all you have done. I am in the process of sending
galleys out to the national reviewers I got (due to your original message
pointing me to them!)
This book will be printed and available in April 2003, see ISBN number below!
I will consider our discussions at an end, and I will always appreciate what
you have done for me!
May God grant you success, well-being and good fortune and smile upon you all
of your life.

Thanks again. I'm glad to hear that you are sending your book to the
reviewers -- some of them will likely give it a chance and review it. As
I mentioned in my message board post, I'm not sure how current BookZone Pro's
listings are. I don't know if all the publications with book reviews are
listed there, but it's a good start.
I hope God will also give you good fortune in your life.
Have a happy Thanksgiving!
